I'm sure your plants will be fine too John. I generally give mine a heavy misting or light drink when I plant them too, and like Tabby I keep them out of direct sun for a while. The stones you used for top dressing your plants is very pretty! And those tiny glass pots are just beautiful.
Hey thanks you guys I feel much better reading all your posts one thing I have notices was that so far the plants that I have bought from the local nurseries when I have repotted those and watered in they are the ones that have rotted on me. I got some bare root plants from Bev and I planted them and watered them in and no rot so I am kind of looking at that pattern.
Thank you for your compliments on my little glass pots I am trying to figure out how I want to market them I do have an etsy shop but mostly selling my hand made millefiori for other glass artists to use in there glass art. I really would like to sell the pots planted up but it would be a mess to ship them. I was thinking about making a kit pot, soil, gravel for the top and a small plant included but not sure if people would want to deal with it, So still working on it. Maybe I should think about just selling the pots. If you guys have any suggestions I would be open to hearing from you.
John, could I just say that your pots are so beautiful that people may just want to display them or put other things in them besides plants. For example, I can see somebody using it to showcase a surprise engagement ring...
I agree shipping the pots as is, will be much easier! Let me know if you're selling them...I'll get 1 or 2 since they really are one of a kind and pretty!
Great work John. Nice plant collection, cute pots great hypertufas...
I keep postponing my first try at these pots.
I got a few semps that I'd like to plant in them but it's hard to get myself started
Well good news so far no rotting of the newly planted semps it may just be in my head but I think the fan helped and dried off the plants pretty fast but also good to hear that others water there plants in too it will just take some time to get the hang of it.
You guys may be right about selling the pots with no plants at least online I could sell them potted up locally. I have been putting holes in the bottom for plants but they could be nice without holes too. I will let you know when I have some ready to sell I have been doing work for other people so have not had time to make any more maybe this weekend.
And Calin I agree with Chris once you start making the hypertufa pots it's hard to stop I think the hardest part for me is the curing process but if I get a few made each every week or so once the first ones start to cure then then you seem to have them ready all the time. I have started making some with color and this week I will have my first group of red pots ready to plant up.
