I have been trying to start a slow growing red Plumeria. Last night while at work it rained. HARD. While we welcomed the needed rain I didn't get my Plumeria start moved in and this morning when I checked on her, she was sitting in water. I drained it out as best I could. Any other ideas to prevent rotting? btw, the sun only came out for a bit today. Not enough to dry anything out.

What kind of container is it in that it is SITTING in water, Cheryl? If you have a well draining mix an plenty of holes in the bottom an occasional shower should not hurt.

I kinda sorta knew the question about soil and pots would come up. It was planted in late October. We still had warm weather and I thought it would be ok. It overwintered indoors where it lost all the tiy baby leaves. Planted in 1/2 Orchid Soil, 1/2 Perlite and some course sand. I don't see much of the Perlite any more? Will I endanger the roots if I change soils?? The pot had 4-5 holes but it could stand more. It was sitting in a bed of rock in a clay dish. I suspect, the clay dish held water.

Your soil is fine, the clay dish is the culprit....

Ok. Clay dish is gone. Plant was tipped and drained the best I could. It is protected from rain for a few days. Lost one emerging leaf. Crying It's pretty cloudy with threat of rain. Can I do anything else??
