I have a lot of these on my daylilies this year. Can someone tell me what they are and if they do any damage?

Thanks

I have a coworker who is getting a Master's degree in entomology. I showed her the picture and she says it looks like a young katydid. They can eat the leaves of plants but they also eat aphids and other bugs that may be in the flowers so I'm not sure if they are good or bad. I've been getting a lot of scarab beetles in my flowers but they seem to be eating some small black bugs that were infesting my blooms. When the bugs are gone, so are the beetles. Smiling

Thanks for your help! I haven't noted any flower damage and with the high heat and lack of rain the leaves of my daylily plants are looking pretty sad so I wouldn't know if there is any bug damage or not. Thanks again!
