It is okay, soil does not get too dry right away, quite good during our super hot summer days.I do not use it for my non-succulent plants. It is also easy to see visually the top soil if it is still appearing wet, then more so the soil below. But I do add some more dose of perlite, even if it already has perlite, to play safe come winter time, when it rains a lot more here. Most of my plants stays outdoors, so they have to get very good drainage and not remain too soggy.
