It sure is a handsome bright red toothy bloom. Parents are '4th of July in Georgia' X 'Briar Patch'.

It's a fantastic daylily from its picture! And I wonder if any of us will see it for sale at a "normal" price? Probably not... Bummer!

I couldn't believe the prices they were going for. I like some, bid, was outbid and walked away. They are lovely plants but I need things like new tires more!

And for anyone watching, there are more seeds going for outlandish prices!

On our way home from the spring regional, we stopped at Gaskins and visited with them awhile. I got 3 seedlings from her, potted up, for $10 each. Would love to tell you their parentage, but first I'd have to remember to email her and ask her.

I'm head over heels in love with one of them (as is @flaflwrgrl ) -- turns out, it's a re-bloomer.

I know -- but it's all thanks to Doris & David -- in fact, I had to borrow $2 from Doris to get that last seedling, which is the one I love the most. Mary pulled it out of her "sell" stack and offered it to me. I carried it in my lap all the way home, cause the car was full.

Mary is right.... I am head over heals in love with the Gaskins seedling Mary brought home & I would have held that baby in my lap too if it had been mine. Heck, I would have ridden on the roof of the car if that's what it took to get it safely home.

she's got 4-5 buds on her, so I should be able to do that soon. I'd share a pic from earlier this year, but I can't find it.

Until the last few years, Rich was the only one who had seeds listed early enough that I could plant for bloom the next year. I have never paid more than 25$ for seeds, and that was too much. What amazes me is the people who will get into a bidding war a week out. That is a sure recipe for WAY overpaying. People need to learn to lay in the weeds. Sad thing is, out of all the seeds if bought, I have one keeper. My favorite seedling this year......the one in my avatar, was 5.50 for 10 seeds. I will say its taken me about 6 years of seeing seedling blooming to realize how hard it is to get a good flower and plant to match. Color i the biggest bug-a-boo for me.

Ill be looking for a picture of that Gaskins seedling when it blooms!

Thanks! That was my point, that 10 seeds for 5.50 had given me my favorite flowers. Not the $$$$$ones. Makes it more fun too.

This is a bloom from my fave Gaskins seedling. It's kind of washed out because it's the end of a long, hot day. On a re-bloom scape. There are still 2 buds on that scape, and a bud on another scape. I'll try to get a morning picture when one of the next buds open. I love that it had 3 re-bloom scapes.
