I'm counting 6 different shades. I've never seen this before. I love it!

Hopefully it's very hardy and I'll be able to grow more divisions like it.

Good luck, SpringGreenThumb, for your gorgeous comfrey spreading. And, thank you. Green Grin! Acorn

I just put in a proposal to add Comfrey as the common name for Axminster Gold so it should show up soon in a general search for comfrey. Thumbs up

This is worth talking about when it comes to Bocking 14 Comfrey...

Looking down upon my garden gate. You see a long wall of foliage starting by the bricks and going along the ridge. This wall of foliage is a thick row of Bocking 14 Comfrey. I have not pulled weeds from the Comfrey row. The wild grass on the slope won't cross the Comfrey line.

I was just noticing tonight that the aggressive VIRGINIA CREEPER also grows right up to the Comfrey line and won't over-take the Comfrey or pass through it. I have no clue why... I assume the Comfrey root puts out a chemical that is toxic to some plants but not others. So I have put grass and Virginia creeper on my list of invaders that my Comfrey will fight off.

That's an interesting observation. Now that I think on it, I don't do much weeding, at all, around my comfrey. I just figured its large leaves discouraged undergrowth, but perhaps there is more to the story.
I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned.

I have heard the suggestion to place burdock leaves in between iris plants to collect slugs (and then destroy) I wonder if comfrey leaves would do the same?
The battle of invasives is interesting. We could perhaps have gardens with rows of one invasive after another, all held in check by their neighbor. I bet comfrey would fend off quack grass, for example...

If comfrey would fend off Bermuda grass, I would gladly plant and try to grow more of it!! Unfortunately, comfrey just doesn't like our summers down here in the south.

No. It has just gone dormant for the winter. It dropped some seedlings so it will be back bigger and more beautiful.

Recipe for comfrey.

2 cups of juice or fresh or frozen fruit, or home canned peaches.
5 young raw comfrey official leaves.

Blend until it's a smoothie.

Been eating that every other day if my life as well as my parents and grand parents 3 generations.
