Thanks, Tiffany! Big Grin

A lot of adjustments have had to be made this year since we lost our long-n-tall line of shade trees, but all in all the gardens/yards are looking better than I expected.

I've never yet found the really pretty double cascade petunias offered at nurseries here, but they're so pretty that I definitely don't mind starting seeds for one or two each year.

Do you have to water your pots more often with the extra holes in them? If more than once every three days or so, I could never keep up... Hilarious! ...lots of plant babies constantly needing attention here. Rolling my eyes. Big Grin

I still have a couple dozen pots of grown plants to aerate yet! Rolling on the floor laughing Some of those are really needy, I'm sure; they're still in last year's containers.

I poked my pots so will see if they rejuvenate. I am also going to give them some bloom reviver.
Our weather has changed drastically from the super hot high 90s to
only about 75 today but muggy. Not at all our usual high 80s low 90s August.

Supposed to get back into the high 80s during the next several days. It really feels
like we are going to get an early winter. Early is OK but this is a little too soon for fall to arrive. Some trees seem to be
dropping leaves already.

They can wait a bit longer then, Cinta. Go find a good sale! Big Grin

I scored some nice plants for 25 and 50% off the other day at one of our local nurseries. Some have been on my wish-list for a long time. Smiling

All of their pots need to be poked; especially those poor cordyline.

I can't wait to start putting together late summer into fall container arrangements! Hurray!

Cinta, i agree too early ...

Looking at your last year's stash I would say they must be pretty hardy to have survived like that.

I am the last person to encourage buying more until you deal with what you have.... Hate to see a good deal go to waste Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Chelle, are all those hardy in your area? They sure are Nice!!!!

I push them all up under the garage over hang in the corner and piled leaves over them. I have so many trees in my yard I get at least 40 bags of leaves in the fall. I shred them and put them over the roses, garden to improve the soil and over an plants I over winter in pots.

I am landscaping large areas so I need a lot of plants so I will be at Lowes door to pick up whatever they are giving away, That evergreen was 100.00 they had it on sale for 10.00. I hope we have a nice long cool not cold and wet Fall.

Nope. At least half of them are tender here, but there's still plenty of time to enjoy them before frost hits. Smiling

Closest is Jacob's Ladder (Polemonium caeruleum Brise d'Anjou™)

Chelle, those holes are too new to answer that question. Still watering every 2-5 days, depending on the pot. Great haul of pretty new plants! Most of the non-hardies that I recognize could be saved over winter if interested, but you probably already know that.

Yeah, but I'm a pretty lousy indoor plant mom. I have 4 or 5 that I nurse through the long winter okay, but it's a struggle. Whistling If we had some sunlight through winter it would really help. I've no space for an indoor light setup.

I managed to get a few more pots poked this morning. One of them is a plant that I do winter-over indoors. Last year it came in with aphid eggs...fought those critters all winter long! Thought for sure the poor thing would be sad this summer but, thankfully, it's doing very well.

chelle, I do not know if you have had this plant before but it is gorgeous in the spring because of the pink edge so it makes a beautiful plant Spring to Fall.

The ones you have that can be kept over for next year could be easier than your normal houseplants I am sure purple and I could talk you though taking some cuttings if any of them really make your heart beat and you want them for next summer pots.

I am so cheap I hate to have to buy the same plants every summer and sometimes you cannot find them again the following summer.

Purple helped me with an easy way to be able to have Purple Shield every year because the nurseries do not sell it every year and I love this plant. I have so many of them now rooted in water I can have them all over the yard next year.

Well I continue to poke more (holes in the sides of) pots. This is really addictive, and I may or may not have empty holes left to 'play with' by the time plants come inside for winter. The succulent creeper plants especially really shine this way, they seem to really like having so much less exposure to water at the edges of the pot, I guess, or that it dries so much more quickly around the edges where they are. The holes that remain open seem to have no effect on the watering "schedule." The holes with plants stuck in them don't have room around the stem for evaporation, in case anyone was wondering. This has been even more fun and rewarding than I anticipated. Will post some new pics soon...

How are people's pots doing, coming through the home-stretch of the season?

Some of mine are doing well, and others not so much. I tend to do well with the ones that are not fussy, and don't require much water.

Can't wait to see your photos Tiffany.
