Evie,

The sick clematis came back beautifully after I cut it back. I recently re-potted it with the ice plant for root cover and gave it away to a very special person for an Easter gift, rather than giving one of those boring potted lilies or tulips found in the florists.

We got colder than normal for 10 days in December. I lost a lot of plants that normally get through winter just fine. But all my Clematis, even the ones in pots have survived. All pots were left outdoors where they were as I generally don't have to worry about them here.

I heavily mulched all very young clematis that were planted in late summer last year. They all survived under their thick straw coverings.

The clematis (Reiman) I purchased this summer did not get planted! Here in Colorado we expect our first cold trend within the week. Is it possible to keep it going in a coldish room for the winter or should I plant it outdoors asap. It still has many blossoms and buds. This is the first clematis plant I've ever purchased. Help with prep for winter, please!! Thank you!
