I know how much those things weigh and they are serious business. Are you ever worried that it will fall on your plants? Or is it stable enough by burying it a few inches as you have done?

That is a wheel off of a piece of mining equipment that my Mother and Dad brought in a number of years ago from an old abandoned mine site in the deserts of Utah. When I placed it there my Grandson dug a hole, rolled in the wheel, and added several good sized rocks before putting back the dirt. It is very stable. I also do not have any small climbing children in my yard. That would be important to a young father like you. Thanks for noticing it.

Ahh, rocks underneath. That would certainly help on the stability.

We have a couple wheels exactly like this here and I'm soon going to set them up in one of Trish's gardens. As you indicated, safety for small children is my concern. I'm thinking of setting a short cedar post in the ground and then somehow afix the wheel to the cedar post.
