This newly introduced Crepe Myrtle exploded onto the scene last year and had everyone talking about it. But is this really a new variety, or an older, already existing variety that has been repackaged and rebranded? I investigated the situation, and what I found will surprise you.

|...it's the only crape myrtle I've ever seen that I wanted to own, and there's one (Black Diamond Crimson Red) in a container in my driveway now, waiting for it to be time for fall planting.
Found it at my local big box store last month, and it's going to be the memorial plant for my best girl when it's time for me to let her go... she's my own black diamond.

|Ah, Mary, it's a beautiful plant for a beautiful girl! Hope you don't have to put it into service any time soon, tho!
