I found 2 praying mantis's in my new garden. I read that the female sometimes bites off the head of her mate while they are "reproducing". I told Hank that, and he said, "Yeah, that sounds right." With a straight face and not a moment's hesitation! Hahahahaha!

I haven't seen one this year

I usually see quite a few.

Here is a pic from last year when we found one on the screen door. Luci thought it could be a new pet!

My son's been looking for 1 to keep as a pet

Mercer County Master Gardener's Insect Festival on Saturday
Lots of cats Swallowtail, Monarchs and Spicebush Swallowtail(I think they are so cool looking), and tagging and release of Monarch...

and tagging and release of Monarch...

If I saw this in the garden I think I would die!
Hickory Horned Devil...good thing they are rare around here

That's cool Jen! I like the Spicebush Swallowtail, never saw one.

I saw a Hickory Horned Devil a few years ago in the driveway, they are creepy
