I am unable to enjoy listening to the podcast as others do but don't want to miss out on the information and the fun. Is there a way to read the words rather than listen? Thanks.

We looked into this some time ago and didn't find anything. I suspect it's just an unfortunate situation that is probably common to all podcasts online. I wish there was something I could do (other than discontinuing the podcast, of course).

No more audio podcast? No thanks. Hundreds of people listen to them and we're going to continue them. It's unfortunately that there are people who can't access them and I wish it weren't so but that's not enough reason to discontinue them.

@dave Why not both? I have watch all of the first video and understand almost every word. The audio of your camera seem to be far superior to what you are using for the podcast. In addition, although I do not read lips, seeing the lips move in conjunction with the sound improves comprehension tremendously. If you have or can get the software you might even consider, just shooting it on video and copy the audio to use for the podcast, since the audio does seem to be better. Even if I could here all of the podcast, I still think I would rather watch the video and it would be a nice option for members to be able choose to use the version they like better.

I'm really sorry you all, but it's not going to happen. The logistics are not feasible. I'm really sorry. Sad

A possible solution:

I am one of a large group of volunteers working on the World Archive Project where we transcribe old handwritten or typed documents so that people can continue their genealogical research; to date I have transcribed 54,000 records (for free).

Maybe some kind soul in the ATP family would be willing to listen to the podcast and transcribe the words?

It is not just hearing impaired persons who would benefit - this would also help ESL (English as a second language) persons, as well as those with attention problems (ADD).

Thank you for considering the possibilities.

You know, I thought about it but I am used to transcribing with a foot pedal to start and stop and trying to do it on an MP3 file won't work with my software so you have to stop and start manually and if you need to go back you have to scrub and I was having a hard time getting close to the time stops. I got about 3 minutes transcribed and I had to take a break. Shrug! if someone knows how I could do it with better control I would consider giving it a try.

I can certainly understand Dave's/and others dilema. For me personally, it makes no difference since I still live in the dark ages on dial-up. One thing, though, that would be nice is when the not a raffle-raffle winners are announced it could be posted in print up front instead of just on video....I would STILL watch (if it didn't take 40 forevers) just to see Raffle Man and whoever else joins in the fun Lovey dubby
