I signed up at Pinterest awhile back and pinned a few pages but haven't really learned much about how it works so I haven't really done much with it. Anyhow, I was browsing ATP just now and came across this thread in the Plant and Seed Trading Forum: The thread "Anybody got peanuts I can plant?" in Plant and Seed Trading forum

Crittergarden gave a link to her pinterest page for people to see what plants/seeds she has available for trade and I was surprised to see a photo of my Echinacea purpurea plant; it didn't have my watermark on it but I recognized my photo right away; and when you click to enlarge the photo it takes you directly to the entry in the ATP database! That's so cool! Thumbs up

Pinterest seems to have become very popular with a lot of folks; I'm always hearing people talking about "pinning" stuff and I see the little red "Pin it" symbol around the internet where you can pin things to your page ... I got to wondering if that "Pin it" symbol is available here on ATP so that we could pin articles, ideas etc. instead of having to copy/past a link?

There is a bookmarklet on the pinterest site that you place on your toolbar. Then you can pin from any pages from any website that allows it.
Go to this page and drag the bookmarklet to you tool bar.

Thanks Jay, I didn't know how that worked ... I'm going to try and see if I can figure out how to drag the bookmark to my tool bar! Smiling

yep. looks like it was left open for others to be able to pin on those boards? They need to be cleaned up and locked. Whoever is admin over there, @Trish or @Sharon? With the huge number of pins on 2 of those boards, it may be a better idea to delete the boards and lock the other ones.

Sharon has permission to pin to the "Blooms" board, but I am the only pinner to the rest of the ATP boards.

The ones that are community boards (which are designated by the community symbol at the top right of each board), I was asked to be a guest pinner to those boards. I use it to advertise ATP.

Personally, I think it is a flaw of Pinterest's to force users into showing the community boards on our own pages, but I don't get a say in that. I can (and do) move those to the end so that they aren't prominent.

Ahhh, that's what those are. Well I agree, there is a flaw when someone comes and spams a board clearly marked for gardens and then no one can report them to get rid of them as spam.

Trish, there are two that have spammed both gardening boards, you can click on their name and go to their board site and then click on the flag to report them as spam. In the one labeled 'gardening', about 1/2 way down there is a pin where someone is asking for help marking them as spammers.

Thanks, Sue. I'll do my part in reporting the spam! Those community boards really to do a lot in helping us spread the word about ATP Thumbs up

Hurray! Hurray!
I spent quite a bit of time reporting nearly 100 of those spams this morning.
I hope they stay gone Blinking
If not, I'll just take us off those community boards. I would hate to tarnish our reputation based on the actions of spammers! Thumbs down
