Extended blooming means...?

I thought I read that extended blooming means that the DL blooms for longer than the usual 1 day; like maybe a day and a half. Or does it mean that the season is extended?

This is the meaning from the AHS website, flowers that remain open 16 hours or more.
If you want to be happy for a lifetime plant a garden!
