I bought a flat of this this week and it was labeled "Voodoo"
But it's not.
And I didn't see anything that looks like it in the plant database.....
Anybody know?

Note the little yellow flowers, yes they ARE attached.

Doesn't really look like voodoo sedum, does it?
It still looks like a stone crop sedum...

Yay! Hurray!

I'm still trying to figure out where to plant mine. The color is just gorgeous but it seems to disappear in the wrong spot, such as against mulch or dirt. If you come up with a cool combo/idea to show it off well, I'd love to see a photo. Smiling

I'm thinking of planting mine with Angelina, in some sort of pattern yet to be decided...
A spiral?
A peace sigh?!?!?
A yen/yang?!?!?!?!
Ot just a wavy stripe?
Or a straight stripe?

When I actually do it, I'll post pics.

Not only were my chocolate ball not evergreen, they fully perished in our mild winter last year, they did not return...
Please tree mail me for trades, I'm ALWAYS actively looking for more new plants, and love to trade!

I'm pretty sure the non-stop rain this year killed my 'Chocolate Ball'. Sad So far, 'Lemon Ball' is still alive and green....well, chartreuse really.

Critter, you may just have it in a spot that it really likes. Microclimates and good drainage can make a big difference in how plants react to cold. Mine died during the summer from non-stop rain so that has no bearing on its hardiness.

I'm very happy that it's happy but I still want to know what to call it.

Well, my point was that it could still be "Chocolate Ball" despite the fact that it performed differently for Swayback. Like I said before, microclimates and drainage can make a big difference in how a plant overwinters. I'd imagine drainage would be a big issue since it is a Sedum, after all. I'm no Sedum expert, but I've not seen any other variety that looks like your plant other than 'Chocolate Ball'. Did you ever contact your source about it? Other than that, you'd have to get a DNA test.....which of course is a ridiculous suggestion! Hilarious!

Thanks, Danita.
I'm going to plant it among 'Angelina' and hug it and love it and call it 'Chocolate Ball"!

Angelina grows fast and it may have devoured my Makino, much like Chocolate Ball. If I buy it again I won't plant it within 5' of any Angelina. I'd go out to check but it's too cold out there, too windy, I'm in my pajamas and have a cold! I'll try to get out (really fast) tomorrow to see if it survived. It's nice near rocks where it really shows up quite well.

I took this photo in April 2012 and you can see the vigorous Angelina already overpowering poor Makino, which had been planted November of 2011.
