Rhapsody, I definitely agree, brugs are addictive. Ohhhh, just for the scent of them all Smiling

Cora and Elaine, I haven't had any problems with nematodes on the brugs planted in the ground. We do get down to 5-10 degrees on some winter days, and we even get ice storms and periodically snow, and the noid yellow brug keeps coming back every year. I do have pine straw mulch, but I dont mulch that heavily.

Cora, I hear ya about lugging the plants in pots back and forth to the basement when it gets too cold for them outside. My DH has warned me he's is getting "too old" to lift the plant pots. Funnily enough, he doesn't complain about carrying his golf bag for 18 rounds Rolling on the floor laughing

When I came home from work, this delicious scent greated me when I opened the door to the back deck Lovey dubby

The buds that I placed in water are opening, and scenting the kitchen Big Grin This is signs of a desparate gardener not wanting the fallen buds to go to waste. I'm thrilled that they are even getting their color.

I'm say in 7a/7b, in that weird dip on the zone map. However, I feel like we get colder than 7b.

The brugs are doing better since the warmer weather, and I'm finally getting some blooms from the plants planted in the garden.

Cora, I dont know what's the deal with the young buds falling off Grumbling Angry something is also eating away at the leaves. I thought these plants were poisonous, but what ever is eating them must be immune.

Stone and Charleen, your plants are amazing, so mature and full of blooms. I need to show my plants a picture of yours, to show them what they're going to look like when they grow up. Smiling

Stone, I'll be happy to save you some seeds if I get any. I'll have familiarize my self with the Candlebush Cassia to see what the seeds look like.

Yesterday, I did rub some pollen from MK Rawlings into one of the blooms of the noid yellow brug, I hope I get a seed pod. I didn't know what the heck I was doing, but maybe I'll get lucky.

Charleen, now I've gotten brug envy, your plants are amazing Smiling I agree with Bubbles, your garden must smell amazing.

Cora, I suspect you're right, but I must have the stealth caterpillars eating my plants, I never see them😔 for all of the fine dining that they've done here, I hope they turn into beautiful butterflies.

I did find this on the Candelbush this evening, when I came home from work this evening, I wonder what kind of a cat it is?

Not sure but I think it's the sulphur butterflies that lay their eggs on the Cassias.

My NOID pink and Charles Grimaldi are both blooming in the pool cage. Pink one took a little swim in the pool this afternoon after a big gust of wind. I'm just waiting for it to finish this bloom cycle and will prune it back down to a reasonable height. They've both had snails and some green caterpillar snacking on the leaves, too. I went out with my flashlight and picked them off a couple of nights. I know they're not butterfly larvae, because there have been no butterflies in my cage.

Very pretty Brugs Elaine. I recently purchased Charles Grimaldi. I hope I get to see it bloom this year. I do have a few butterflies, mostly Swallowtails, and a few Sulphurs. For the amount of damage I have, it should look like a butterfly sanctuary outside Smiling

Cloudless Sulphur caterpillars that feed on the leaves of Cassia are green, and those that feed on the flowers are yellow
