It has been ignored all summer, except for some big clumps I dug and just set on the ground because they were sinking down into the rot. We got a whole lot of rain for awhile this year and I was afraid I would lose a lot of them to rot. This clump dig seems to have stopped the rot from progressing. Leaf spot is my biggest buggaboo this year (each year it is something different!) but everything is looking better after a removal of the worst leaves. Something interesting - the big clumps I dug and set aside do not have leaf spot. No sign of scotch this year! Big relief!

While we had a lot of rain this summer, it was a dry August. A watering ban is on & we use a watering can for the new planting.

It is a bit of a walk to the far end. However we had an inch of rain overnight & more is falling now. Yippee. DH wanted to mow, but we will take the rain.

We could use some too, but it is not near as dry this year as it was last.

We were setting records for a wet spring, and now we are setting them for driest August. I guess you take what you get !...Arlyn

Here in California, we didn't get too much rain this year. So I hope this next winter makes up for the lack of rain this year. Otherwise we'll all be on drought restrictions next year. Whenever we get restricted, I choose to let a lawn die over my plants.

We don't have water restrictions, we just have to worry about our well going dry!

Rob, I dug up most of my front yard. Partly because of on-going drought conditions/water restrictions, partly because I hate the kind of grass grown in this area, and partly because I needed more room for plants. Thumbs up Some of them get water during the hot months, some are allowed to wither away and come back or not.

Caitlin, good going on the Iris. Relief is a good thing. Big Grin Thumbs up

Who needs grass when you can have plants?

Ensata is a great source. I got some purple foliaged plants from them.
