I noticed just last weekend that I've got LOTS of these bugs flying around (along w/ the bees) AND mating in ALL of my flower gardens.
Friend or Foe?
Pollinators only, harmful or not?
I searched the internet for images and I "think" they are Yellow Soldier Beetles.
Am I correct?

I think you are right. The Wisconsin Master Gardener site at:

http://wimastergardener.org/?q...

has some great information on it including that It is a beneficial insect and, although it feeds primarily on pollen and nectar, it will eat the occasional caterpillar or aphid. They are most commonly seen in July- September (peaking in August).

I wish I had some in my garden Thumbs up

Hello and g’afternoon OldGardener,
Thanks for the response AND for the link.
I’d researched a bit before posting my question but wanted to confer w/ experts. Thumbs up
I certainly am happy to learn that I’ve got some type of insect in my flower garden(s) that’s actually beneficial besides the bees and butterflies. Lovey dubby
I followed the link you shared w/ me and found it to be quite interesting.

I’ll send some of these lil’ gems to you for your garden, it’d be a great experiment to see if they survive the WI to Cali trek. nodding
Again, thanks for your time and the info!!
Have a delightful afternoon.
Shaw
