If you've ever watched the rain shoot off your roof, across the yard and soak into your neighbors' garden, you may appreciate this article. What follows is a fairly inexpensive alternative to rain barrels on every down spout. It's easy to do, especially if you can talk someone else into doing it!

I have a simple system I built with 2 plastic barrels and it is amazing how fast they fill up I hope to add more soon to have a total of 400 gallons that I can save.. 1/4 in of rain will fill more than that with the roof area I have.. I raised mine up off the ground a foot or so so that gravity will give it more force when flowing..
