All About Milkweed

By Sharon
July 28, 2011

It took many years but it finally occurred to me that some of our most common plants have a more colorful history than our notably famous people do. The common milkweed is one of them.

I have never enjoyed a history lesson more! What a wonderful story, of what it sounds to be a glorious childhood. I never knew the relationship between the Milkweed and WWII, nor the history with the Native Americans. Thank you so much for writing this wonderful story. Lovey dubby

Thanks, Tara! So glad you enjoyed it.
Most of the history that I know very well was told to me in the same way - otherwise I probably would never remember it. Smiling

There you go with those great words again!
I guess all my teaching years spill over into my articles; I seem to write the same way I taught - storytelling, I guess.

And after so many articles I'm beginning to think they all sound alike, then people like you come along and make it all good again.

And that is what makes it so fascinating! We seem to have lost that quality in today's classrooms. Now I have one more I'm saving for after supper titled Wildlife: Opinion - a Closer Look

Well, 'Wildlife' isn't an Aunt Bett story, nor one about memories - just in case that's what you're looking for. But most everything I write about seems to have been influenced by those who taught me all those years ago; same with things I care about, things I feel strongly about.

I have about 300 articles floating around on the net and my big effort right now is compiling them into one cohesive unit that most would call a book. At the moment I'm spinning wheels just trying to combine some that need combining and deleting some that are redundant.

Your words today came at a good time; they sort of pushed the frustration I was feeling to the side, gave me the push I needed to get on with it. Thanks.
