I won Secret Romance from Rocky Top last night at our annual picnic.

I also brought home White Hot

Nora's Thrill

and Here in Silence that was in really bad shape. I may not be able to save it but I am going to try. It had white moldy looking stuff all over it, the fans were all dried up and pulled off of the rhizomes easily but the roots still looked good. Guess we will see what happens.

The pic of Here in Silence came from Cubits, it is Betja's pic, not mine.

Russell was a Lhasa mix. The father was supposed to have been ShihTzu, but, after he matured, the vet thought Mama Lhasa let someone else under the fence. Probably a spaniel of some kind. Big Grin

He's a beautiful dog. Love the crossed paws in the above picture. I guess you lost him? You said "was". Sad I lost my beloved Maddie on July 1st -- still haven't stopped crying. So hard.

I guess this is as good time as any to introduce our new puppy -- Panda!

Mary Ann, he died two years ago this month from cancer and I am missing him more than usual. I LOVE that photo of Panda! What a sweet looking puppy. Or are appearances deceiving? (Sorry, Lori, we can move this chat to another thread if you want Smiling )

No reason to move anything! I am a critter lover and lost my male aussie in Oct of last year. I still cry over him. I am sorry for both of your losses!

Oh boy. Well first of all -- thank you Lori for letting the thread stay. I'm very sorry for the loss of your aussie. They are remarkable dogs. My Dad had a female, and a good friend of mine has had several. What was your boy's name? And how did you lose him?

Debra -- I'm so sorry about Russell. My sister has lost three dogs to cancer -- that damned disease. Kills pets and people that we love.

My Maddie was lost, ultimately, to kidney failure. She also had spinal arthritis, which caused incontinence -- but a wonderful animal chiropractor kept her comfortable and *continent* for 2-1/2 years that we otherwise would not have had. She made it to 16 years old. Sometimes I miss her so much I can barely breathe -- she was my once-in-a-lifetime heart dog. Sitting here crying just talking about her.

But the puppy helps. She is so busy and smart and funny. I guess that's why God made puppies, yes? To help us move past the grief? And to answer your question Debra -- yes, she is a sweet puppy. Sometimes. But sometimes she's a vicious attack-dog. And sometimes she's a stalker of monsters! And sometimes she's a killer of tennis shoes!! She just came into the family room dragging one of my socks that I took off and left in the bathroom last night. The look on her face is priceless -- "look what I found!!!" There's something going on ALL the time!!! Green Grin!

I love the three I have now, but no one can ever compare to my Russell. The newest one is an odd mix of ShihTzu, Chihuahua, Dachshund, and something I can't remember now. Got my very own Odie Dog. She bounces straight up and down just like Odie, is happy-go-lucky as Odie, but is, fortunately for me, just a tad smarter than Odie. Hilarious!

Lori, that photo of Nora's Thrill makes it look almost iridescent. Be interested to see a photo of it when it blooms for you.

Sorry to hear of your losses. Sad My pets are like to family to me, so I can understand how hard it is. I lost a rottweiler a few years ago and a brown cairn terrier last year...both to cancer. I built a little garden on top of the resting place of their remains over looking the hillside.

The dog in my profile is a black lab/rottweiler mix. I think he's more of a ShihTzpooh, since that's what he does all over my lawn. Big Grin

The Panda puppy is so cute. Lovey dubby

Thank you Rob -- she's a cutie for sure. Today she had her first full professional grooming -- toenails trimmed, ears de-haired, bath, blow-dry, brushing and hair trimming. She was in shock, I'm sure -- that people could do all of those things to her -- but she was very very good, and very brave. I was very proud of her.

I'm sure sorry to hear about the loss of your Rottie. My sister has had three -- and lost them all to cancer. I think the breed is prone to that disease. Your Lab/Rottie mix is a very handsome boy. Name?

And my pets are family to me, too. Since I never had children, the more so.

I'll post a picture of my Maddie, who I lost on July 1st -- as a memorial. This is the last time that I'll post her picture anywhere but in my heart.
