Are the dried outer petals of this HT (Fragrant Memory) due to insufficient watering? I'm afraid I let my garden dry out a bit when I hurt my back. I haven't noticed this result in any of my other roses so I suppose it is something hybrid teas do.(?)
This is the first year I've tried hybrid teas--most of my other roses are shrubs or miniatures.
No. I never noticed the leaves looking particularly wilted, but it bloomed during a hot, dry period of the summer when there was no rain. The leaf on this one is fairly heavy and so it would have to be really parched to droop, I think.
It smells lovely. It's too bad it has only had two blooms and no more forthcoming.
Welll.....that's what all my HT's look like. i blame the hot dry wind.
Mine don't get enough water, either, but only the hybrid tea blooms end up like that.
Remember that children, marriages, and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get.

Was gonna say what Cindi said.. About 99.9% of all my roses, shrubs, HT, minis, floribundas, grandifloras, etc, all look like that this time of year. I just chalk it up to dry & wind & HOT.
