O how cool is that, Peggy? We virtually traded places - Ha! You know where Opp is then, and about winter in the south. If we want to go to WM, the closest one is in Andalusia, and more restaurants. I love OH too! We visited in June, showed my son his old crawling (not yet stomping when we left - LOL!) grounds. I miss snow-skiing, and the excitement for the kids of a "snow day" of cancelled school.
Cinta, that sounds a lot like what I would say, and have said, though I don't remember if it was in a thread of yours or not. I put up a pic of my Mom's yard. That's what I've been doing here with landscaping efforts, adding shrubs (where they can get full size, no trimming needed) & maintenance elimination, like removing hard-to-mow corners, getting the grass away from tree trunks, borders separating lawn from other areas, adding shade on the west side. When I no longer live here, somebody who doesn't give a rip about plants can live in a nice yard anyway. Just mow the flat green parts and rake/blow the leaves to the other areas. DH says his part is much easier now. I can't mow anymore, back issues.
Winter? I'd prefer to be much farther south, like Bahamas or somewhere in those islands, to not own a winter wardrobe and fuzzy socks. I didn't bring snow shovels down here, but I do have several pairs of dusty skis in my shed. I look at them once in a great while. Old habits die hard, don't they? ...and what if I get a chance to use them again? Hopefully somebody will stop me from taking them to the tropics, should that opportunity arise...!
I would be too busy tending my Coleus gardens to think about skiing, I think.
