Arlene, I was patient of the month. You just need to be patient and spend a ton of money. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

I might give mums another try, I got an email from Niche Gardens and there are some really gorgeous ones out now. I still want Matchsticks, GHS has them and I do have some reward point that are burning a hole in my pocket. LOL. Check these out when you get a chance. Green Grin!

Wow, what a nice dentist office!

Country Girl is also known as Clara Curtis. I used to have that one. Not sure whay happened to it. It's very hardy. My mother used to grow it in northern MI. Multiplies quite a lot too.

I have a mutant that looks similar to Kathy's Rust. I like the "daisy" mums. I had some matchsticks but I don't think they survived, or what did mutated in color.

Next spring I am going to order quite a few from Bluestone and hopefully I'll get some from Jennifer.

A lot of mums don't survive the winters anymore because they are breeding the hardiness out. Such a shame. I guess so many people just toss them after fall that it doesn't matter and they can keep selling them. When I find people who are going to toss them, I tell them to justk give them to me. Sometimes I even give them back the following fall!

Thanks, I have a great dentist!

Earlier in this thread Bob mentioned that the ones he plants in spring always survive and he is in colder zone than us. It is possible the ones that come out in the fall are not hardy.

Thanks for the heads up on the Matchsticks, figures they would revert. I really like Country Girl and Niche has a few other things I want so I might put in an order with them in spring. They are having a 40% off sale right now but it is not for internet orders just locals. They are in Chapel Hill, NC., I did not know that because my brother just sold a house in CH and was there constantly. I could have paid a visit!

I had a lot of stuff in my shopping cart at Bluestone, just waiting for that 50% off sale in the fall. I noticed that over half of the stuff in my shopping cart disappeared and only selected items were offered at 50% off. Nothing I really needed.

Jennifer, that is a nice display of Mums. I bought some white ones from Bluestone at least three years ago that turn to white/pink the longer it blooms. It has been coming back every year. I plan to relocate some to the front and side gardens next spring. Susan they should be pinched back up to July 4th and no later according to Bluestone. This is suppose to control the flopping if you don't want to cage them. I am going to intermingle them with my fall plants that I got from Santa Rosa along with some Fleece Flower and Anemones to give me some good fall coverage in 2014. As gardeners our imagination is always on the go.

I love the Anemone, how long do they bloom? Would look good in a moon garden. I have been wanting to grow a brug but on the brug forum they said I should wait till spring to plant something just to be sure I do not loose it over the winter. They know I am in a warmer zone but they do not know how a new brug would over winter here. I saw one I liked on Plant Delights, they usually have pretty big plants. I'm all ears!

Great looking mums Jennifer, I posted some photos to the what's blooming thread before I saw this, but will post some closeups here. I try to pinch mine back by at least a third 2 to 3 times in Spring. Somewhere I read that they should not be pinched later than Father's Day, but I would think that would vary by where you live. Most of my current ones have returned for a few years now and been divided. It seems like it's the years with a warm spell followed by a hard frost that kill most of mine. This year grew some divided ones in pots and sat them out in front to add fall color. Think I'll do more like that next year.
