Small correction. Put a double negative in there, and this from a person with 760 verbal ACT score! Am sure my teacher is rolling in her grave right now!

Anyway, what I wanted to say is "Naming a Jovibarba and a Sempervivum the same cultivar name is NOT a good idea. Really adds to the confusion."

For example there is S. 'Jade' and J. 'Jade'.

Bev, but wouldn't those noids be prettier with a real name??? Of course you could go all Shakespeare on me "A rosette by any other name would be so pretty.." OK I'll stop!!

Maybe we are at the beginning of coming up with something that will work for naming new sempervivum. We now have people on both sides of the big water connecting and wanting the same thing.

I just wanted to add here that I have enjoyed reading the Sempervivum Society Journal multiple times, links to the issues of which can be found at the bottom of the page reference below. Well worth the effort of reading through all of the issues. It is a history of sorts.

Hi Kevin;

I've understood your comment even with the double negative Smiling and I agree; but in earlier times the two species were seperate and nobody had the guess that they may be put togehther;

today it is no good idea to do that furthermore...

the german breeders are sensibilized to that Thumbs up they often ask me to check their new names for duplcates Big Grin

I agree with the duplicate names being confusing. S. 'Astrid' and J. hirta 'Astrid' , both are wonderful plants, but can get mixed up when some one doesn't know the difference.
