I have a Black Asia which I grafted a common pink on to it, I took pollen from a third adenium a sort of white and pink , the graft was 2 years ago, the pollinating was a month or more ago. The caudex on this plant is one of my favorites, that's why I wanted a pod. Here is the pic of the pod .I gotta wonder what color the seeds will .produce. I hadn't intended to do any more seeds, but as Bob said, his pollinating method worked for me, and now i just hate to waste the seeds. Just when I thought I was out I get dragged back in.

Well Ginger, I liken the wait to what it's like wondering how long it will take for a teen age child to develop common sense. I'm thinking maybe two years from now (sense I don't actually have the seed yet) Deborah, That's what I'm wondering also. In fact it's about the only reason I can think of that I'm going to do seeds one more time just perhaps I will get a weird or if not weird a different color. Darling Doris Heck, I can't see it either. And no one would approve of my toothpick dipped in honey then wiped off method. I figure I just got lucky. Funny thing is that the momma plant was in the ground when I pollinated it. I forgot which one I did, three weeks later I decided I wanted it in a pot, it wasn't for another two days that I saw the pod and realized how lucky I was that I didn't kill it. A neighbor saw it and told me he has a plumara (spelled wrong) that has a similar pod on it but much much fatter. So, I went and got it and am instructed to put it in a paper bag till it opens??, So I guess and expect I'll have a lot of baby flowers in a short time.

Oh, I forgot to mention....I don't know how to properly respond for a "thumbs up", but I thank you folks for them. Is that a big deal? A thumbs up I mean!

Was the plumeria pod ripe yet??? It takes them about 9 months on the mom. No clue if they ripen if cut off before they are ready. A thumbs up is given when someone likes what you have to say...you can give them too...just click on the green thumb and it will turn black showing that you gave someone a thumbs up. If you want to take it back, just click on it again and it will go back to green.

Right away I googled plumeria and because the pod was what I'd consider huge 4 times the size of an adenium pod, it advised picking it and putting it in a brown paper bag. Hope I got this right. It was too high on the tree or bush to wrap with wire. The pod feels sort of mushy I wonder if that's normal.

Mushy is not good unless it's a fully ripe pod. A ripe pod is between 8-10 months old and will start to split down the center. It could be a pod from last year.
If there is any dampness present I would liberate the seeds from the pod right away. They are either over-ripe (in which case get them out of that pod or they will rot) or under-ripe and then they will not ripen any further off the tree.

Thank you Hetty,following your advice I'll open the pod today and attempt sowing. Remember when I met you and just had to buy that "black Asia ?) It turned out that I had 4 of them that I had forgotten I had This getting old is a pain,but better then the alternative I suppose.
