If you don't mind hopping over to the Garden Photos forum, I'm looking for suggestions for a new bed along our new ugly sidewalk. I want to incorporate many of my daylilies, looking for suggestions, input, etc. Any ideas, suggestions much appreciated.

Thanks!

Sandy,

This project of yours sound challenging and a lot of fun.

Are you planing on starting yet this fall?

I suggest echinacea, feverfew, garlic chives, Laetrile, black eye Susan, tall and short sedums, monarda, butterfly bush, and short grasses.

I can help you with all of these.

Gerry

Garlic chives are very invasive. I never had any in my yard but my neighbor planted them and now they are coming up everywhere in my yard.

Yes, garlic chives are invasive. I cut the seed reads way before they dry, split, and spill their seeds every where.

I also harvest the flower heads when first opened and use in my salads and add to soups and roasts.

Hi Gerry

Yes, this fall. I spent yesterday planting a few things. We must be on the same page, much of what I planted is on your list. Thanks for your input!

I can't always cut the seed head off because not all of them are poking their heads through the fence so you are fortunate that you can do that. The ones in my yard I weed wack down.

Cindy,

I only have neighbors on the other side of the road. They do not kill weeds growing in the grass and near by. I am down wind from them and their seeds always make their way to my front grass.

Gerry
