My Dendrobium batanense ( or equitans) blooms every few months, busting out in dozens of sparkling little blooms which are nicely scented. I never let this one dry out. I got this one some years ago from Parkside Orchids.
I shot about 50 pictures, this one is not easy to capture "in-situ".
It smelled so nice walking into the greenhouse this morning. Then around noon the sun hit the Bulbo equinolabium.....
Neostylis Fuchs Ocean Spray is working again on two spikes ( nice scent)
And the Den bigibbum v. compactum blooming wildly ( with said Bulbo in the background)
You know, I have Stapelia gigantea in bloom here and there the last couple of weeks, they are nothing compared to that pretty stinker! So happy for that fan kicking in.
It's a rainy day here so I am stuck inside. The weather folks tell us that this rain will be followed by cooler dryer weather come Wednesday. By cooler, they mean 85 degrees but even that will be a relief from this humid 90 degree heat we have had since mid May.

Well, the cool front came through this afternoon, no Tornados etc, just a really good downpour and wind. I needed some rainwater, as my containers were getting empty, so I was happy!
Moving the last group of plants was a trial run, I will empty out the garage again tomorrow until frost.
In the meanwhile - Cirrhopetalum putidum has a neat bloom, I like the little fangs and tassels -
Another nice show, Ursula. That Cirrhopetalum looks more like a Bulbo than a Bulbo. Very nice flower nonetheless. For that matter, the pretty Coelogyne fimbriata looks like a Maxillaria to me. Must be the wine.

Jim, during our Ecuador trip we encountered so very many Maxillarias, that whenever Klaus and I had no clue what we were looking at, we figured it was probably a Maxillaria! Without Wine!!
Regarding the Cirrhopetalum - I went with the synonym here, it is listed as Bulbophyllum putidum. But it was given to me many years ago as Cirrh. putidum and the name stuck with me that way.

Wow, what a show, you two! I see doodaflatchies on that Cirrhopetalum, don't I?
Wow, fabulous Catts Jim, and I really love Hoku Gem 'Freckles'. Got one from Lindsay last spring, and it has suffered badly from black rot this summer, but is stll alive. My Gerberara had scale problems, too, but it's setting up spikes now.
Anybody else notice the same shape flower on the Potinara and the Gerberara? They must be related, I'm thinking. Are the flowers about the same size, too Jim?

Gerberara snow ballet aka Collierara snow ballet = Dial. snow flake X Bl. Richard Mueller or Caulealia snow flake X Bl. Richard Mueller. Are we confused now?
Good eye, Elaine. Both have Richard Mueller as a parent. In fact, if you see an orchid shaped somewhat like that and it has spots, chances are sneaky Mr. Mueller had something to do with it. He must have been a bit of a rogue in his youth.

Ah, ha! But I'm still confused because my Richard Mueller didn't have any spots the first time it bloomed. Maybe it's not, but I got it from Plantio and it does have a tag. Maybe it will have spots the next time. Seems like my Yellow Birds, which also have Richard as a parent, have spots sometimes and not others.
As you say, Jim, little Richard really gets around!

I am happy to see my Vanda Pakchong Blue opening two nice spikes in the greenhouse. It will take a couple more weeks before they are totally open and matured.

Yep, it's a gorgeous color. I'm hoping my new V. Tokyo Blue will be close to as blue as that one. In a few years . . when it finally gets around to it.
Looking at this listing for it, I think it may work out. http://www.sborchid.com/plantd... I got a bargain, too, if it survives long enough to bloom!
