You are lucky Caitlin. I have had Galaxy Explosion for 5 years and it has never rebloomed for me. Maybe it is because I set lots of pods on it.

Cooler nights probably do not lend themselves to the best opening daylilies.

We had two today. The pictures were taken after several hours of light but steady much welcomed rain.

I have noticed that these late bloomers (rebloomers or extended) generally take a day and a half to 2 days to open, then they tend to be "two day" lilies, instead of just "day"lilies. It is not unusual, at least for me, to see less saturated color or missing bands of color

I took these photos this evening in the dark because neither of them were open enough this morning:
Purple Pashtina rebloom

After Awhile Crocodile continuous bloom
Thumb of 2013-10-18/philljm/7384dd

This is very unusual for blooms this late. Our weather is very normal, we have been touched by mild frost. Even last year with the extreme heat I didn't have blooms this late. I suspect all that spring rain and the late arriving summer may be affecting this - I am not complaining, I haven't even covered anything to protect them this season.

But I am hearing rumors of snow next week, so I guess I had better enjoy them while I have them.

Those late bloomers may not be as colorful, but they are a welcome site to see here and don't look like they are missing too much pizzazz!

Jan, the weather map shows snow in the west right now. yuk! Not looking forward to that Glare

I purchased Wonder of it All, and it arrived about 3 weeks ago. Imagine my surprise when I went out to the garden today and saw a scape on it, about 8 inches tall, with several buds! While I would love to see it bloom, I'm thinking I should probably cut the scape off. Any suggestions? We've gotten down to 32 here a few nights already, so I was really surprised to see that scape!

Since it is so new, and probably won't manage to bloom anyways, I would cut it. If it was June, I would say let it go- because I do. They have several months to settle in. You could always try to let that cut scape bloom inside, I managed to do so with a couple last year. might try it again this year - they will either die, or bloom. I got two different scapes to bloom indoors last fall. The color was really faded, but it was pretty neat to see ~Jan

I would cut it off too, let the plant save as much energy as it can for next year

Thanks Jan and Ed. Jan, I always let them bloom if they are planted earlier in the year. Just wasn't sure about this one, and I will cut it. Did you put yours in a sunny window?

Jan, I decided to toss the thing out. After closer inspection, I didn't think it was far enough along to actually bloom.
