Right now they are in I guess filtered sun in pots. They are doing fine in this light but I want to put them in the ground before the frost. To the left of this area is a batch of ferns. Do you think it would that would be a good area. I see you have yours near the house. I had thought to plant them on the backside of my deck ,but the above ground pool would be next to them also. What kind of root system do they have and can it be controlled.

Thanks for any help you can give.
Marie

You need to wait til next year to plant ten out if they are expected to be hardy!

Choose a spot with full sun, and make sure you can water it!

When it pups you can split them off of repeated stomp them down and they will eventually stop trying to grow, and they will pup elsewhere, I'd plant it 4-5' from any structure.
Please tree mail me for trades, I'm ALWAYS actively looking for more new plants, and love to trade!

I agree Bananas eventually form a pad, a mass of corms one growing next to another. After 3 years in this spot this pad is 3' + dia. This photo was taken at the end of April right after removing the mulch.

I probably planted them a little to close to the house. They do have a pretty large root system. I may eventually may have to take them down if they get too big. Actually, I didn't think they would survive as long as they have, or get as big.
