Related to the African Violet, Gloxinella lindeniana is in the Gesneriad family of plants, and like other Gesneriads it prefers bright light and a well draining potting medium.

I purchased this plant from an on-line vendor in August (2012). It arrived as a tiny little plant so I planted it in a small glass terrarium. It seemed to love the humidity in the enclosed terrarium and grew tall and leggy very quickly. Because of the current height of the plant the lid can no longer be placed on the glass jar/terrarium so I plan to either cut the top off of the mother plant and try to root it, or remove the plant from the current container (along with any rhizomes I can find in the soil) and repot all in a larger terrarium. I love the pretty variegation in the foliage of this plant and although I've read that the blooms are fragrant, I have not been able to detect any scent.
