A pleasure! Better to prevent insects for getting well-established in ANY plant. If you don't, they'll probably figure out that own other things they can eat.

It would be great if you came back to this thread some time in the future and mentioned that, yes, the systemic insecticide. "XYZ" prevented your root mealies and whatever else was attacking unprotected plants from eating up your jade plants and Diffenbachia.

I think that few things in life are ever completely simple, and it usually helps to have more than one set of eyes on a thing.

At work, we're required to always have a verifier. I think they find more issues in the tasks where the resolver said "oh, this so simple I can do it in my sleep". That's when they overlook something or misinterpret something. I think I usually make more "simple, dumb" mistakes than complicated, subtle mistakes. Like confusing one ounce with one teaspoon!

Hilarious! I for one am glad you asked the original question! It motivated me to go looking for equivalents, because I've run up against the same confusion about the volumes of the various sized containers.

Yup, Woofie, your link is now my go-to. I see Caroline also thought it well worth an acorn.

Hmm, maybe an Idea that mostly quotes that site ... or if I could find another site that says some of the same things, it would be "research", not plagiarism ...

This won't answer your original question, but it may help you to treat your plants while you search Blinking for the conversion.

Make up a large batch, maybe 3 - 5 gallons of the solution using one measure per one gallon of water (chill, I know, I know*) and pour the solution into a very large tray (I use the concrete mixing trays sold at Home Depot), set all you pots into the tray of solution and allow each pot to soak up as much water as it requires. There. Done.

*Since there is no such thing as a standard one gallon plant pot like there is in the world of weights and measures, that is my best answer.

There certainly is a "standard" gallon measure, just not a standard one-gallon pot. I think we are making this far more complicated than necessary.

Actually, Ken, I think it's the manufacturer of the product that's making it more complicated than necessary! I have never seen application directions like that. Smiling

I am getting ready to treat plants and i believe i am going to make up a big batch and just guess i used it last year incorrectly (not enough) so i'm going to use more this year.I don't have a choice, i repotted some plants this week and i'm finding batch's of lil' tiny white eggs.I have no idea what is cooking in them eggs or what laid them,i do know i want to kill any that are in any pots i didn't re-pot.Maybe it's little spiders that won't hurt my plants but i don't want them hatching in my house this winter when i turn the heat on!! Crying
