Does anyone know what this white sack is stuck to a branch on my shrub.

Do you know what consistency it has (soft or hard, cottony or ??)? At first glance, it looks like it could be a spider egg sac but the consistency would be helpful. BTW, your Callicarpa is gorgeous!

I agree Just lay the side of the stick on it & see what it feels like that way.

I wonder if that could be a cocoon? Callicarpa americana is a host plant for the Rustic Sphinx Moth.

Ok, I took a stick and poked it. It did not budge and reminded me of dried up abc gum like you find where it should not be. (already-been-chewed.) Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

It's not the Sphinx Moth ... I googled and photo's of their egg sacs are entirely different; don't know if it's a spider or some other type of insect but (unless the plant is indoors) I'd wait and see. Smiling
