I recognize the second one but can't for the life of me remember the name; it's commonly seen in garden centers here at times. Photo # 3 is Copper Leaf (Acalypha wilkesiana) but I'm not sure which cultivar.

No Lin, it isn't that. I have seen this plant in south Fl. sooooo many times. My mind is drawing a blank on it though. It's making me crazy!!!

Nope, not Aphelandra. I know I've seen the plant for sale in our garden centers here at times. I keep thinking the name ends in "nthe" or something similar, but for the life of me I can't remember the common or botanical name and it's driving me crazy.

I kept thinking I saw that plant (or similar) when we were on vacation in San Diego in June. Sure enough, I took this photo of S. oblonga at Balboa Park:

Cool! "Striped shrub" helped me find it. And no, there really aren't any Aphelandras with flowers like that AND stripe leaves, but found some very similar flowers on plain leaved plants. Fun!
