For Brugs in Ohio they are waking up quite nicely. Last year I moved them a lot and this is the spot they like. Morning sun and afternoon some dappled shade.

They didn't bloom last year, but all have Ys this year.

I find that the cuts above the Y make a shrub like brug and bloom the first year. The ones with the cut below the Y grow for a year and bloom the second or third spring.

They should definitely bloom this year, and if you do any cuttings try to get them above the Y then they will bloom early.
and if you are a newbie at cutting make sure the cuttings have nubbins on them or NO ROOTS, I received some this year and there was not one nubbin on them, and very flimsy, too bad as it was a waste of plant.

Thanks Doris. This is about my 4th year and haven't done much research. Rhapsody has helped me. I can't handle too many at a time because as you know, up north here, they are a bit of a hassle.

My avi, was the very first I received with a hosts trade. Just a 6" stick, I rooted and put in quart pot and by September it was blooming!!! I was so shocked.
