It used to be when you got a thumbs up & a system message for it, then you clicked on the notice & the post you got the thumbs up for opened in a new window or tab. today that has not been happening for me. is it just me or did you make a change Dave? @dave
I liked it opening in a new tab automatically.

It's no longer opening in a new tab for men either. But assuming dave doesn't change it back, you can hold down the control key when you click on a link, and it will open in a new tab.

Yes, I know how to open things in a new tab but I had gotten spoiled you see by it happening automatically w/o me having to do anything or think about it. Sort of like having a doorman hold the door open for you. It was a nice, convenient feature.

It was actually a bug in the system that was allowing it to open in a new window. The preferences option to open external links in a new window was being used in the system messages (And other places).

But they are not external links. So I fixed that yesterday because of a problem in the plant database and that affected all the other areas of the site, too.

I tip my hat to you.

I don't know if this works for everyone, but the middle mouse button for me opens a link in a new tab. I'm referring to the wheel of my mouse. If I click the wheel on a link, it goes to a new tab. Ctrl-Left Click works, too, just like @Horntoad said. And if I want the link in a new window then I click regularly (left click) while holding the shift key down.

Ah ha - the wheel click is exactly what I needed when working with My List - I can now easily go from My List to a specific plant and back to where I left off in the list. I know this has been addressed before but I just wasn't easily 'getting' it. Perfect! Thanks.

Ah wheel click. I've tried it several times in the past & nothing happened but I just wasn't pressing hard enough. Hilarious!
Got it now! Thumbs up That's a lot easier than right clicking then clicking on "open in new window".
Thank you Jay & Dave. I tip my hat to you.

Ah HAH! Goodie goodie.

SHIFT- left-click for a whole new window (browser instance?)

I used to have to open another browser instance from a desktop icon, then navigate to where I was in the old instance, THEN click on where-I-wanted-to-go.

I can't say that I learn something new every day,
but when I do learn a new browser command,
I usually learn it from Dave!
Stay ATP, my friends!
