I was fortunate to find my 'Akita' bulbs at the nearby Walmart. And very reasonably priced too.
I garden for the pollinators.

Wow, who would have thought?

I know. A very pleasant surprise. It didn't take long until they were all gone over there. Smiling

pirl said:Time to check your dahlias from 2013 now that we're getting some warmer weather. At least we can check them in the garage or basement or attic steps and not freeze like last weekend!

Well, it all depends on how we judge "warmer". Our current 32 (going up to 41) won't be as warm as tomorrow's 50 + degrees but it beats the life out of zero degrees!

I love the selections offered at Lowe's, Home Depot and Walmart. It's so ideal for those who love dahlias but don't want all the digging and storage. If I weren't possessed by the color echoes theory for the gardens I could happily buy a few bags and be content. @SongofJoy - the offer at Dutch Gardens is for a mix of colors. IF they end up being all the same I'll call for a refund. They have to honor their ads and they've never given me a problem with refunds when something is not as advertised.

@virginiarose My reviews, from 2008 to 2012, are at the top of the second page of reviews for Dutch Gardens. They once were SO good but not for actual plants, just bulbs and tubers.

@jvdubb, we had a high of 32° earlier in the week and I was referring to it as a spring day! Hilarious! Blinking Rolling my eyes. After that polar vortex we are all a little happier with 32°. LOL.

@pirl, ok, I was not paying much attention to what was plant and what was bulb or tubers. I tip my hat to you.

@SongofJoy, Thanks! I will check them out in the spring. Hurray!

MMMM 55*F here now.... I sure do love this kind of winter... I saw them selling t shirts in FL proclaiming
I survived the two days of winter... I'll have to check my bulbs... I'm sure they are too warm where they are in the hall... up near the hatch.. the only cool spot I have is in the cool room and it's too wet there///with a humidity of 69% today.... don't guess i have to worry about the watering... I looked in on them a few weeks ago.. today it's just warmer than it is outside... and usually stays about 42* F through the coldest time.. that would be a good temperature for them... but not that wet... unless I wanted them to be rooting then... I'll hold off till the first of March for that..
