We had some high winds on Sunday that completely flattened a garden trellis with two mature vines. One is a honeysuckle and the other is a jasmine.

Gold Flame Honeysuckle (Lonicera x heckrottii 'Gold Flame')
Jasmine (Jasminum x stephanense)

I think I will end up cutting both vines back drastically while rebuilding the arbor, and that won't happen until the ground thaws out this spring. I have temporarily just propped up the arbor and tied it to the fence. I know the honeysuckle will recover, but am a bit concerned about the jasmine. On the other hand, I was not overly fond of how the two interplayed with one another, so may try to relocate the jasmine (it has also been more problematic with bugs/disease). Has anyone moved a mature jasmine? Any pointers?

Also, any suggestion of another vine to plant opposite the honeysuckle? This arbor is about 4' wide with a gate between that leads into my herb garden. The gate is also pretty much toast so the whole thing will be a re-do.

How about another honeysuckle? One that flowers at a different time? I like to plant both an early flowering and late dutch honeysuckles together and I get a longer bloom season. Or plant another color. If you have an orange trumpet honeysuckle then plant a yellow one. Or just something different in honeysuckles.

I like all the trumpets. Also I I like 'Pink Lemonade' and 'Mandarin' and for the dutch I like 'Serotona'.

Sorry, don't know anything about jasmine.

Good ideas, Rita, thanks. I have not yet decided what the new trellis will look like, something to cogitate on this winter.
