Well Dave and Danita, let me tell you a story.
Molly the director of the Wildscape where I volunteer got this plant a few years ago.
I called her this morning and she said she forgot where she got it, she is 85 so it is understandable.

I tried calling nurseries this morning where she might have gotten it, but we are under a big blanket of ice and everything is closed. I will try again when things melt and power has been restored, many places are out at this time, we are some of the lucky ones.

In the meantime I will say that this plant doesn't make seed, since it is a hybrid, so propagation is by cuttings.
Cuttings are difficult to root, but I have been able to get them to root a few times.
I could send cuttings in the spring, the plant although evergreen is not at it's best right now, cold and covered with ice.

The plant in the pictures is at Fielder House Butterfly garden, which I started seven years ago, and has done very well, the soil there is sandy, and it is in mostly sun.
The ones I planted at my house have not made it, which makes me very sad, I have heavy clay and part shade.
To make a long story short, I will check for nurseries and I can send cuttings in spring when new growth starts.

I'd definitely be interested in getting some cuttings from you in the spring. We need to get this wonderful plant out there and grown more. I have plenty of sand and plenty of sun. Texas Sages grow really well for us.

Josephine! You are really trying to get me into the shrubs, aren't you? My gosh, this is a gorgeous shrub! Please tell me it would grow for me in GA if I can amend the soil to a more sandy soil!

Late last night I emailed Kermit Carter at Flowers By The Sea (who's company specializes in Salvias), sent him the link to the plant & article you posted and asked if he could get it. He emailed back today and said he's interested in getting it.

Well, first of all this is not the time to take cuttings, the plant is encased in ice, second it is not a Salvia, but I will see what I can do when the time is right.

Nice to see this xeric plant promoted, they have become incredibly popular in the Phoenix area - because they are as beautiful as they are tough. We have them planted on the highways here, which is no place for much other than rocks to survive, but they do.

Now, if we could just get the landscapers to stop trying to form them into little balls and boxes.... grrr....

They grow Lynn's Legacy (another name for the same cultivar, as noted on their info sheet) If you look at the top navigation bar, they give a list of their of retail outlets, some of which are in Texas.

For those of you who are interested in this plant and live in a wetter area than recommended, you might want to try the Leucophyllum langmaniae 'Compacta' which is said to tolerate more water than the typical Leucophyllum. I have two of them, along with a couple of "Green Cloud"s, and a whole bunch of the "Rio Bravo" type, which I haven't seen bloom yet.

Yes, two or three times I have been able to root a batch, but they are very slow to root, six to eight weeks or longer.

frostweed, that's not slow! just put in water and forget! That's how I get some things I never thought would root to work, like rosemary. Actually, it was just an accident, but I was happy about it!

Oh geez, I'm with you on the rosemary. Never did get anywhere...

Did you use heat or anything, Josephine? I'm afraid of using too much humidity with them.

No heat under them, but the greenhouse is heated. They were potted in soil in a rather humid greenhouse, I will try to take a picture when I go there.
Right now we are under a big blanket of ice.
