I have a cherished "NuBarro" wheelbarrow that has a big green plastic ball for a front wheel. That ball is almost 2 feet around, and it rolls over narrow trenches and very soft soil very easily. And it goes over bumps and rocks fairly easily. Pulling is still easier than pushing.

Apparently the design used to be called a "ballbarrow" which is a good description.

When I went looking for another, they were no longer being made.

Here's all I've found:

it works VERY well. When i first saw it, I assumed that no one would ever buy a normal wheelbarrow again.

It's even better than a big roller like Egyptians used to move pyramid blocks around. You could push it right through a stone wall, as long as the stone wall had one gap that the wheel could roll up to and through.

Very cool, Rick. That is similar to the Dyson Ball vacuum cleaner.

Jo Ann, see my post about filling those leaky tires with Slime Tire Sealant. This stuff works and will solve your air-loss problems.

I have a cart like this that I use to move big pots. I do have to lift the pot into and out of the cart, but it works great for me on any terrain.

At least we seem to mostly agree that there are better options;...such as inflated wheels on dollies and other plant moving options if moving pots on irregular terrain.

Those flat appliance moving Harbor Freight items with no straps or handles only work on flat solid surfaces.

Its been fun reading all the inputs from you all,... and now we know from the sharing! Smiling

I did pause on the Green Slime idea. My grandson uses bike tire stuff.
I have moved to the handtruck because lifting pots is very difficult.

Any of the tire sealant gels out there will probably work as well. The gel one buys to use with bike tires just doen't have as much gel in the jug as that sold for automobile tires, though I would never use it in my auto tires.

UPDATE: I bought the small sized dollys. I plan to place them under my largest pots. Today I used one to move my citrus trees back outside. The threat of frost is over for the time being and it is time to move them outside again into the sunshine. The trees are rather heavy and cumbersome for me to lift each one and carry 30 feet from outside to the sunny window inside. It was easy to tilt the pots up on to the dolly. The dolly is not that far off the ground. The dolly made it easy to move. It rolled over carpet, past the foyer and over the threshold rather easily. Then smoothly over the cement. I am anxious to see how it works on the biggest, heaviest plants I have. - I also bought a smaller mover that I plan to use under the smaller pots. It was just $5 and all metal with quality, swivel casters. Surely a better price and quality than I have ever found in other plant department dollys. Usually they are cheap plastic that don't last a full season starting at $10 and up.

Excellent! You're fortunate that you don't have any steps to deal with. I have one large pot that really needs to go out in the summer, but even with a dolly, the steps make the process way too exciting. Rolling my eyes.
Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid.
