Interesting.. I hadn't thought of the warmth thing.. most of the cuttings on the floor were the ones that didn't make it downstairs.. the ones in plastic water bottles and other recycled containers down there are all thriving.. but they are up off the floor.. ( it is cement under tile) in the basement..
I really was upset too, cuz three people sent me some wonderful healthy cuttings.. the four long sticks in the bubbler tub are all leafed out, I am afraid to pot them up. since they are doing so well, last year I potted up the rooted sticks from the bubbler, and those are fine. *sigh* I had some really nice named brugs too.. saved all the tags so I can find some more.

Charleen,
Adding peroxide would help but for a short while. The oxygen would come out of that too. The bubbler would add oxygen continuously and the agitation would add some more. In reading the article I got the idea that not much heat was used. After all how much heat can get through 2 folded towels. There is bound to be heat loss out the sides of the towels. A slight bit of heat shouldn't cause a large loss of oxygen.

Know whAt I'm going to try. You can get a small aqarium with light and water pump for about ten dollars. I'm going to set it up just got to figure what to put in bottom. could use the green foam and put the cuttings in and keep the waterpump with sssstone running with water in bottom of aquarium. The light would funish the heat and the air stone the fresh oxygen. Got one going now with batplant seeds. Hope it works.

Debra isn't it strange how some make it and other's just go to mush but all are treated the same, and it just kills me to tell someone that sent them that they dies, I feel so bad, but it happens to everyone.

I am so looking forward to the weekend, supposed to be 50 on Sat, good day to get outside and start cleaning up the yard Hurray!

Hi all. It is finally getting nice enough here that I decided to pull everything out of the greenhouse and the garage. Oh my gosh!! Aphid city!!! Everything has aphids. I watered everything really well and got the Neem out and sprayed -and sprayed. Hope I got them all lol. Then I found that fungus gnats ate the bulbs of a few bananas and alocasia. The good ones of course! Grrrr
Hope everyones weather continues to warm up and stay that way. It has been a long winter.

xeriscape8321 said:You can also winter your brugs in a dormant state. Place your containered brugs in any dark area of your home where temps will get cold but will not freeze (basements are ideal for this, some people use their garages). Water the pot very little (like once a month) just to keep the roots from completely drying out. This will force the plant to go dormant. It lose many or all leaves. The roots are what you want to keep alive. You may lose everything above the soil line even, but its those roots that count. When the weather begins to warm up (and all danger of frost is over) you can bring the container out of the dark and begin a regular watering routine. Fertilize with a weak solution until you begin to see significant rebound of the plants. This method can be used for plants that you have grown in containers all summer or those larger plants that are pruned and dug up at the end of the season.

Where have I been all this time? So will my brug leaf out again? It is in a pot, has lost all the bottom leaves and most of the top ones. All I have to do is what you recommend and it should rebound?
