We have bought them in past. This year, in early October, I ordered 2 from a friend whose son's school was selling them. In late October we adopted 2 kittens. A couple of weeks ago, my friend delivered the 2 beautiful poinsettias - and the silly kittens immediately started nibbling on them like goats. Crazy! We have 2 older cats who have never paid any attention to poinsettias in the past, so although I know they are poisonous to cats, I thought they were also not very attractive to them. Either our old cats are picky, or the new cats are omniverous. Hilarious! My husband was home for lunch, so I sent the poinsettias to work with him. They'll look nice in the office and the kittens will have to go back to grazing on cat chow. Thumbs up

I love them but 1) I can't stand to see them die and, 2) my critters like them too much and can't take the chance. I have some really cool silk ones though. Two are even shaped like a small tree. Big Grin

Me too, Cheryl. I have bought many live ones and tried to keep them going in the garden. Eventually they look very scraggly, or die off and are never seen again. It seems like such a waste to me. So I bought a really nice silk one that I put out every December, enjoy a lot then store away. It has been going strong for at least 5 years. That's a good value, and not a dead plant to me.

This year I got a nursery gift certificate as a gift, and treated myself to this nice variegated bougainvillea. It is now out on the front porch with a big red bow on it, looking very festive alongside the fake Poinsettia.

Beautiful bougainvillea, Elaine!! It is so white and frosty-looking and perfect for Christmastime! LOVE the variegation!

Mmm - that *is* a nice bougainvillea! There is another form out there, but I never liked the yellow variegation with the reddish blooms - this is much better. Hmmmm.....

They've come out with so many cool cultivars of the Poinsettia that I haven't been able to resist. The splatters, pinks and all sortsa cool things.
