My sister and I toured Brown's Ferry before she passed away with cancer in 2014. At the time it was $75 for a DF.

Teresa - {{{hugs}}} So very sorry to hear about the loss of your sister. I have a younger sister who is currently battling cancer. I liked the name of that daylily, too. I immediately thought of my sister when I saw it.

Teresa so sorry about your sister. My younger brother is battling pancreatic cancer and I have MS. I love, I'm Gonna Love you Through It and what it does for diseases. Bought from Heide at the Region 15 Summer meeting in Georgetown in 2013. It has performed for me very well, can't wait for it to bloom every year. One of Charles and Heide goals is to sell plants that rebloom and it does for me.

Thank you, Liz. So sorry to hear about the loss of your brother and your illness. So many have been touched by these diseases. I thought Heide seemed to be a very sweet person. I did buy 3 others from her. You have to love rebloom on plants!

I had never heard that song before, but my husband must have. When he developed his second cancer and had chemo, he told me that I was his rock and that I couldn't cry. So when he was sleeping, I would go into the garden and cry my heart out. Yes, I did love him through it. He would literally lean on me after chemo. Must have looked funny--he is 6'3" and I'm 5'2". That was 11 years ago. We've been through a lot, but that cancer kept our marriage strong. It still is after 42 yr of marriage.

That is a touching story. I am glad you shared it.

Arlene - I am glad that your husband has been in remission all this time! You are right .... fighting a life threatening disease can break or make a marriage stronger. I am sure that cancer has touched everyone's life is one way or another. If you haven't had it yourself, then you know someone that has. I do love that song and like the fact that some $s from the sale of it goes to women's cancer research.

Well, if he comes out of remission, our doctor will not doubt my beliefs. He said I was the only one who thought my husband would survive. Neither the oncologist or our family doctor thought he had a chance. Harrumph!

Positive thinking can go a long way!!!

My husband is a 9 yr stage 4 colon cancer patient. One of the institutes we check in with is the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. About 3 yrs ago, his oncologist said that it was unlikely he would live another year. Last year we went down to check in again and just to let his doctor there know he was 2 years past that "toe tag" and still going strong. His regular oncologist here in Tallahassee, said he's never had a stage 4 patient that has survived so long - to just keep doing what we are doing. (Chemo (here) and stereotactic body radiation at UF Proton Therapy Institute in Jacksonville, FL). His radiation oncologist said that his job was to keep him alive the next 5 years. Then immunotherapy treatment could put him out of business. One can hope.
We celebrated our 43rd wedding anniversary in November.

So Beautiful to Me x Shores of Time is such a beautiful pink and Thelma Douglas x Gaudeamus is stunning. Perfect form and color as far as I'm concerned.

I have a ton of pink daylilies, but the title of this thread is what are my favorite pinks. So here are a few of my favorites:



'Jeanne Rowles' is one of the most beautiful doubles I have ever laid my eyes on. It's huge. Everything about this flower is exquisite. I just want to wrap myself up in the flower when it blooms. The hybridizer, Kirchhoff, has a very special talent for creating beauty.



'Dovealicious' Nicole/Gaskins flower. The hot pink eye with matching double edge of pink and gold on a cream/white base is outstanding in my garden. Love it.



SDLG. 'Cutting Loose X Gaskins A-103'. A dusty pink w/white watermark. This sdlg. has tremendous substance as well as a great plant habit. Gorgeous color.

'Marietta Momento' Diploid- John Shooter at his best. Lovely cream flushed pink blend with very green throat. Simply beautiful.



'Wild Cherry Roundup' - an oldie but goodie.


SDLG. 'Laura Mast X Get Jiggy' - FFOE- Another fabulous pink sdlg with a gorgeous purple eye zone. What a nice surprise this one was.

I sure hope my Dovealicious makes it through winter. I got it last spring and it really didn't settle in well, struggled all summer.

Glen, don't hesitate to find 'Jeanne Rowles '. I don't usually buy doubles, but took a chance on this plant. Boy, I was so glad I did. When it blooms, my heart sings. It is that beautiful!!

Cynthia, it took two summers in my garden before I saw one flower on 'Dovealicious'. I almost gave up on the plant, and though about culling it. But on that 3rd summer, in late July, it sent up 5 buds. When it finally bloomed, I was astounded at its beauty. Took my breathe away. I need to move it to a better location but afraid to touch it. It's planted on a steep incline in my mountain garden. I do baby it by working the soil around it with 'alfalfa meal' and enhanced soil because of erosion around the plant. Some of the perils of working on mountain terrain.
