Hello you two, nothing from Wilfred at all, I sent several emails last year, they did not come back, and he did not answer so I can only assume he could not play with us any more Sad

Wilfred may have lost his friend that let him use the computer. Puerto Rico is in a severe depression, no work for anyone.

Melissa, very sad about Wilfred. Who do you think is the one to ask about starting seeds during this terrible frigid cold spell Hilarious! South Florida is experiencing right now? It's 44° right now. My thought is to start them indoors till they break thru then take the tray out during the day when the temps reach the 70s . I've never tried seeds in winter before.

Jim winter is when I started mine, gave me something to do in the winter, I kept them in the house regardless of size until the weather was warm enough to put out on the patio, no luxury of planting in the ground.

So Doris, were you set up with grow lights and did you use bottom heat (like a heating pad? ) It's like Siberia here right now mid 40s Hilarious! This is going to be a new experience for me, I think I have about 15 seeds left that I'll keep. If I get 5 to make it I'll consider it a success.

Jim, yes I had grow lights but have never used a heating pad, just on the table by the window, just like I have now, I have no new seeds growing just the plants I brought into the house, some are blooming and and some are looking stressed, maybe because they see all the snow outside.
We were on Red alert for 2 days now we are on Orange, so bitter cold with the wind blowing. it is -5 right now.

Hang in there, Doris. One good thing might come of the cold, there is some sort of exotic weevil that's decimating trees across the US, and scientists are hoping the cold will kill the dormant pupae, thus slowing or even stopping the spread of the destructive bug.

A Valentine Rose for you!

I hope the few seeds I kept will stay viable for another month or so, it's just too cold to start messing with seeds. I just don't want to invest in grow lights, but you Deloris were (are?)skillful and lucky with most of your seeds given the area your in. Hi Melissa, hope that insect you mentioned is the Sri Lankin Weevil . It's a real pest in my neck of the woods.

Hello all how is everyone doing Thumbs up good I hope. I am real happy I move to the Texas Hill country but it much colder here than back in Houston but I still don't miss it.
Jim I have started seeds in the winter I like to use a heating pad tray when starting the seeds in fact I have about 20 I started this winter. I don't know why I did because I am trying to cut down on the plants I have but I couldn't help myself. Right now my dining room looks like a jungle. Its funny how some of my DR's loose their leaves and some seem to thrive.
Also I have another seed pod so if anyone wants seeds I'll send them some when it opens. I think if I start any more plant my wife is going to plant me in the back yard Rolling on the floor laughing .

Hi, Rucky. You have it bad! And this winter is something else, hey? Some of my plants have gone dormant for the first time, and they're four and five years old. Weird. Call for help if you get buried in the back yard, hey!

Melissa same thing here, all my plants are in a sun room, glass 3/4 of the way around, and 70 degrees but they are all going dormant, a couple even looks like they are dying, very strange.
