Just a suggestion. You may want to consider looking for a black anodized aluminum trellis; less expensive to mail/ship and low or no maintenance.

And there's always black spray paint for just about anything. Our local hardware store carries some very nice steel trellises.

Yeah! Me and black spray paint are best friends!

You might also consider using the Masonry Ladders. They are light weight and can be cut to any length you want.

Love your idea, Anne. I just may buy some of them tomorrow. What would I use to cut them, if it's required?

I use a hacksaw to cut them you'll want a fine tooth blade - hacksaws are awesome for cutting pvc pipe too. Sometimes I'll use my dremel with a metal cutting blade on it as well.

Thanks for the quick response. Since I have the tremors and enjoy using the computer I think I'll refrain from cutting it at all! LOL

Have you heard about botox for tremors?

Looks like Hayneedle offers some beautiful products. Good choice. Please remember to allow room for air circulation between the trellis and the stucco walls.

On the other question about cutting the Masonry Ladders, my choice for tools are a good pair of diagonal cutters if you have the hand strength; alternate choice for tool - bolt cutters. A metal file will remove any remaining burrs/sharp edges.

Would good old duct tape work for any raw edges?

Yes, but it's not very pretty. Clear fingernail polish won't eliminate a rough edge, but it can make it less sharp. Maybe a few passes with a file or coarse sand paper, then a dab of nail polish, especially if the wire ends hang straight DOWN so that the nail polish forms a blob over the sharp bit.

If someone with strong wrists visits, you can bend a wire loop around needle-nose pliers, and hide the sharp bit inside the loop.

Home Depot had some "remesh" that looked like heavy welded wire fencing with 6" squares. The panel was something like 4'x5' or maybe 3'x4'. It would be stiffer than masonry ladders, but not as long.

And you would have to cut a panel of remesh into 1/3rds or 1/4's. I was thinking "angle grinder", which you could also use to polish the edges smooth.

If I ever get a panel of remesh home to play with it, I'll let you know!

I guess you're not coming over then? I spotted some trussed masonry ladders but will have to check for them locally. I'll take photos of my progress and the EM's can take photos if I end up cutting myself.

This winter is too long and too cold.

Visit Long Island?

I used to live in the NE, so I suspect that you might have that nasty "snow" and "ice" stuff that I seldom see where I live now (Sea Hawks country).

I had an aunt who used to be a social worker out there. Although I had always thought it was a classy, high-class high-rent area, she told me about whole families of criminals and juvenile delinquents and adult delinquents. When the police pulled in a new offender, they got to ask "How's your Dad?" and "How's your grandfather doing? Is he getting out of the joint soon?"

it gave me a whole new perspective on "Lawn Guyland".

Yes! Come and enjoy the snow we're about to get.

High taxes but I think we all feel that way, but I haven't the slightest idea about whole families of criminals and delinquents of all ages and I've lived here all 72 years of my life, though not all of those years were out here at the east end (just before the earth ends and squares off).
