Of plants you have available to trade, and those you are looking for (or any kind of list you want.)

Who's making a trade list? I just started categorizing my plants today. This rocks!

When in your list management, you can create a category, with any name or for any purpose you want. Plants you have to trade, plants you are looking for, seeds you want to plant in spring, a list of new plants this year, plants to keep away from pets, those that need repotted in summer, endless possibilities!

Personally, the most useful application is regarding trading, so I wanted to make sure everyone visiting this forum knew about this new feature. It's not easy to trade if both people don't know what each other has already/has available/looking for.

I see you found it!

Once you name a list, you can designate any plant to be a part of it.
The golden rule: Do to others only that which you would have done to you.

Clicking in a diff window to describe the process exactly...
Go to your list, click management
On left, there's 'manage categories', might have to scroll a bit to see it
In there, a button to create a category, and whether or not it is public
When you add lists, they are added to the bottom, but the order can be changed
When finished, click the words 'return to your list control panel'
Now you will see your list as a link on the left.
While looking at your 'main' list, you can edit the plants you want to include in your new list.

I found the easiest way is to right-click the little edit icon, choose "open in new window."
You will see a checkbox option now, to include it in the list you made.
Click that, then button 'save changes.'
Go through your main list that way, opening each plant in a new window to add to new list (that belongs on the new list) so you don't lose your place in the main list.
When finished, reload the main list page.
Now you will see the list name with the plants that were added to it.
And when you click the list name at the left, only those plants will be shown.
The golden rule: Do to others only that which you would have done to you.

@purpleinopp

Thank you for talking me through this process, you are the greatest. I am sending you some Acorn Acorn Acorn !

So far I have created 4 categories and have 'fixed' the first two plants on my list.

Now there is a place for me to list the seeds I have been gathering from far and wide and others will be able to see my seed trade list. All I need now is a few rainy days to get the rest of the list in order, and maybe more coffee.

Then I will need to cross check with @dave's wonderful ATP planting calendar so I can start my seeds on time (not like last year when I was all over the calendar and always late.)

Thumbs up

AWESOME!

I've also created a list of plants I want to remember to try propagating this spring.

When a trade comes up, I can make a list just for that trade (w/o post-it notes, or using a notepad window, or scrolling through a 27-email conversation.)

Being able to be this organized, I think I can handle more trading this summer. I was limiting myself to one at a time last year. I have serious CRS.

Also hope to find a swap or two to attend. I'd need a list of plants I don't want to forget to take...
