Hello all, I am a newbie here. I live in Orange Park Florida, from this point on referred to as OP. This is near Jacksonville. 2 years ago I moved from Cold Michigan to Florida, I lived in a rental house the first year, now I am in my permanent home and am starting with a blank canvas. I had a good year last year with some brug cuttings and some that I started from seed also have many red castor bean seeds but not much to trade yet except those red castor bean seeds. I love butterfly gardening and love plants with a strong scent hence the love for brugs. I love animals and have many and also love my Koi ponds and water gardens. Though they are small compared to what I used to have I will be making them larger as well as my gardens as I get reestablished. If anyone would like to trade for the seeds I do have or has some seeds that would fit into my gardens or thinks I should try please post to me. I can pay postage or send some of the seeds I do have. Thanks Penney

Hi OP,
We have a great bunch of gardeners in and about Jacksonville.
Good to have new faces.
Do you have any trees?
What kind of garden are you into?
I love color, so I go Coleus crazy in the summer.
They grow so well under Brugs.

Thanks. Not many trees. Our yard had a total of 2 trees when we moved in and both had to be removed. The one in front yard I think was a gum tree and it had been hit by lightning and the other in the back yard was a holly tree with thorns. Neither very useful. Last year I grew a red castor bean tree from seed that was great I don't believe it will come back with all the frost we have had but I do have alot of seeds to start another one. I love brugs and have or had some last year. I need to learn how to take cuttings and overwinter them. I hope they come back this year but only time will tell. I am looking for info on them I know they need alot of water and fertilizer when blooming and we love them. I am looking for source for some brugs. Any ideas? Working on a shoestring budget. Every payday which is bi weekly I allow myself 20 bucks for plants. Not much considering how much they can cost. So I hit up the local Ace Hardware and get there buck throw away plants that I nurse back to health. We did buy 3 queen palms but I don't know if they will make it thru this winter. Again only time will tell. I love plants that attract hummingbirds and butterflys and that smell really good. I also have a couple of small water gardens that hopefully this year I will be improving.

Hi,
I have some crinum bulbs that I'd give you for your new garden, for shipping. I can send you se veral bulbs in
one of those 'flat rate' boxes from the post office. I think those boxes ship for about $7.00. Send me a message
if your interested and we can work out the details. I'm in the process of replanting my whole front garden and
might have a few other things I could throw in as well.

On another note, where in the 'enchanted mitten' are you from? I lived in Hell for for close to 20 yrs.

PJ- I might not be far from you. When we bought out house 3 years ago, it was in Green Cove Springs. Then when Fleming Island was incorporated, our address changed. Downside is we currently rent out the house but will hopefully be moving down next year. My yard is also mostly a blank slate. The woman before me had no interest in the yard so we got 1/2 acre with just trees, shrubs & some long untended Hibiscus. I've been adding plants a little here & a little there. I've been to the OP Ace and can usually find something on sale.
Blessed are the Quilters for they are the Piecemakers.

PJ, I'm sure you won't necessarily have to trade to get seeds. We all have seeds accumulated and will help you out, gladly! You have an especially vibrant gardening community in the greater Jacksonville area. Just post a list of what you'd like to have...someone's got it. Maybe I do.
