Well, they don't just chop off the main stem. They chop off each little side branch, and leave a whole pile of garbage- in the form of individual branches. And they ONLY pick on the coleus, in different beds, front and back yards.

Last night I must have had a herd of deer. They only ate the tops off of 2 tomato plants, but they left big turds all over the yard. Usually when the deer come, they eat everything.

I stopped planting them in the ground with the slugs here.. they would be gone in days

Iron phosphate treatment in spring controls my slugs well. Summers here are too hot and dry for slugs.

But my current problem is a critter much bigger than a slug.

I think it's rabbits, but I don't really know. Whatever it is doesn't mind the 5 repellents I've used in that small bed.

Yesterday I saw a black cat in my neighbor's yard with dead prey in it's mouth. I hope it was one of the million rabbits running around the neighborhood.
