I learned the first year I had it. It went dormant on me cause I left it in the back greenhouse which gets cooler. I set the pot aside and thank goodness it came back. Since then I've kept it in the "Warm" greenhouse with the more tender tropicals and Hoya's and it's been happy.
God gave us wings. He just called them horses

Do you grow them submerged during the hot months? I've seen folk plug the holes in the pots as well.

Yes, I have several mini "ponds" that I use. Plan is to build a real pond at some point. Seems to be one of the projects that I haven't quite gotten to yet tho.
During the winter I water well, then allow to dry out a bit in between. Real trick is to not let them get too cool, or they will go dormant.
