Those begonias are supposed to be heat tolerant, so I ordered 5 of each. They are gorgeous, keeping my fingers crossed they'll be happy all summer!

They are all beautiful Neal.
Have you thought of Aquilegia chrysantha or Aquilegia flavescens for some yellow. They do well in partial shade to full shade for me. The A. chrysantha had a very long bloom time last year. I think it was because I kept it deadheaded.

Lynn. That columbine reminds me of one I had at my old house. I just loved it.

C. chrysantha doesn't get as big as some of the other types I have. I really like it.

That's a cool idea Lynn! I hadn't considered Aquilegia for containers, but how lovely that would be! In the garden I often let them go to seed, being a flower hog that loves the self sown seedlings...and being somewhat lazy too, LOL. Although I have experimented with deadheading some plants to see if they would re-bloom. I didn't see more blooms, but that may be because I waited too long to remove the pods, or could be our summer heat prevented it. Certainly worth a try though, and in containers they would receive more constant moisture and regular fertilizing, which could make the difference.

I also have a yellow Abutilon from last year that I've managed to keep alive this winter, that will live out there too. Pretty, and grows well there, but not quite as many flowers at one time as I would like.

These are all placed at our main entrance, where I wanted everything color coordinated. The garden there is planted in the same color scheme, and the color from the containers was nice between flushes of bloom.

OMG!! How beautiful!! I was starting to paint my Square Foot Gardens, as many (all) of them need to be replaced after over 15 years on the ground. I REALLY LOVE your purple colors!!

I already put (a new) one in the garden, one in purple, one in green, but I think I like your idea oh, so much better! I think I will paint them all in purple colors, and the pots as well as the wheelbarrow!

Thanks Evelyn! I'm so glad you were inspired! I've considered adding some spring green among the purples, might try that some year. Will be keeping the purples this year, as this will be my first growing season seeing them with the new house color- lavender with purple trim! .....I don't have neighbors, LOL

Oh, guess I did get to see them together for a short time, but the garden was in such disarray at the time I'd blocked it out of my mind, LOL. I've been manicuring all the beds, so this year will be more as I envisioned.

I agree Love that purple house. It looks almost magical.

I will have to get a photo of a house a few blocks from me. They painted it orange with beautiful blue trim. At first I was shocked, but now when I see it I feel their choice was excellent. I love seeing that house. Now after seeing Neal's house I think they should paint all of their containers the same blue as the trim on the house. Hurray!
Neal, I think you have started something grand here on this thread. Hurray!

Thanks! I'm too Bohemian to do something you see very often, LOL.

Lynn, that house sounds wonderful! Blue and orange are complimentary colors (opposite each other on the color wheel), so I bet that is visually stunning.

It's raining now, so I will have to wait to finish up on a dry day. I painted a lot of new (bargain) and old pots. I was wondering how I could get all my pots color co-ordinated as I got a bunch that did not match the others....PROBLEM SOLVED!!! (And of course, I had some old ones that were looking mighty shabby.) I could not afford to buy the really nice ones so now they all go together.

I still have some pots I will wait on, as they are filled with bulbs. Once they are done, I will wash them out and then paint them too! I took some pictures, and I will take some more, once they are filled with plants. I will have to go to the library for a fast connection to upload the pictures.

Thanks again for inspiring me! Thank You! (Edited for poor spelling/typing!!)
